Hello world!

Welcome to Tenor Talk.

This is my first blog entry.  This blog will be about sharing with people all that I have learned about tenor technique.

I started my studies of voice with my father, tenor Salvatore Li Vigni, when I was 17.  I have studied with and counseled with many teachers and tenors – my father, Carlo Bergonzi, Alfredo Kraus, Franco Corelli, Gianni Raimondi, Arrigo Pola, Bill Schuman, Salvatore Fisichella, Marcello Giordani, and many others.

I have a lot to say about technique.  Please subscribe and join in the conversation.

  2. I am very excited to read more articles by you!

  3. I see you went ‘shopping’ tomany of the tenors I was thankful to have had some advice & insight from- hope this blog takes off- tenors have it technically tough!

I’m very greatiful with your deep knowledge and the way you share it with opera people.
My question is, if we sopranos must use the same technic that you, tenors?
Your talks about the three layers of the vowels were a REVELATION ! to me!
    Thank you
I’ll keep reading and practicing under a new approach, while hope eagerly your feedback.

    • Hi Marisol,
There are differences for tenors and sopranos. Our first layer is a relatively minor aspect of our voice, while for sopranos it is the most important. Our second layer is very laryngeal, while for sopranos it is not as much, if at all.

  5. Thank you very much, Mtro. Li Vigni.

So, what would you advice me to search a good singing soprano’s teacher?
I’ve lost a lot of time time with pseudo teachers that repeat theoretical generalities again and again, but never teach those very specific maters regarding voice production, as you do.

By other way, I have already read very carefuly your blog’s content, as well as all your december blog spots, and I’m sincerly impressed!
You are the lacking link among the voice scientists and the great tradition taughts that has produced some of the biggest tenors of XX & XXI centuries, among those which, without any doubt, you are one of them.

All the best for the incoming 2011 and ALWAYS for your amazing singing carrer and your life!!!
